Spirit of Aloha - Huna Training
Wikipedia defines HUNA as: a modern word adopted by Max Freedom Long (1890-1971) in 1936 to desribe his theroy of metaphysics which he linked to ancient Hawaiian Kahuna (experts). It is part of the New Thought movement.
Huna is a Hawaiian word meaning “secret”, however it also refers to esoteric wisdom.
Uncle George Naope, whose lineage predates 1400 AD, and the last Kahuna Nui in the Hawaiian Islands said: "When you teach, keep it Hawaiian. Do not do it like those others. Keep the aloha, keep it Hawaiian."
"The original ancient art of emotional, mental, physical wellness, spiritual development and evolution of the ancient Hawaiians has been passed down through the ages (traditionally in families) to those who (usually at a very early age) the elders could see the ability to be a good student and a good teacher." About hula, Uncle would say "there are alot of good dancers, yet they are not good teachers" and "there are some good teachers yet they are not good dancers, to be a Master you must be both."
It is an honor and priviledge to be given permission to teach by Uncle George as he himself was a Master. This tremendous responsibility has been accepted with
deep humility.
There are those who believe the 'Huna' Uncle taught to be the 'original teaching' of all peoples. Throughout the world there is a major resurgence and awakening of self-awareness and ancient esoteric teachings and wisdom is "remembered". Indeed many predictions stated, now would be a time of great spiritual awakening yet also a time for using discernment as there is a danger in following 'gurus' who only do what they do for greed, lust for power and other negative reasons.
From the beginning, 100% of any earnings from 'Huna' training has been gifted to peoples and organizations who continue in protecting and perpetuating Hawaiian culture. In this small way, I keep my promise to Uncle and to myself to "keep the aloha spirit, keep it Hawaiian".
